That was an unbelievable level of connection between Mr. Davis and Mr. Cavett. Mr. Davis seemed to be sincerely touched by the gift which carried Mr. Cavett's integrity of humor and the poignancy of Mr. Davis' continued experience of racism.

Of all the talk show hosts, Mr. Cavett was far and away the most intelligent, and his guests, the most interesting.

Wow, thanks so much for the interviews and the TV clip! I had never seen any of them. He gives nuggets of wisdom for those who understand. Hysterical exchange between him and Arsenio about trumpet articulation!

Yes, Reasoner was the only one who wasn't intimidated by him. It was very interesting psychologically speaking to watch the various exchanges.

Harry wasn't intimidated by Miles. But Barbara Walters proved to be difficult for him.
