Really good to read this Bret!! Rami Friedman is a pessimist who just can’t realize that it’s us ‘juveniles' who keep democracy alive. Today we need creative people whose voices remind us and sustain us as we refuse to permit the greedy oligarchs who have no imagination or joy to prevail.
Sometimes it's so painful to be right about the nature of things. You hit that sensitive nerve, Bret. You're also correct about sheer American chutzpah. There are enormous creative forces being gestated inside this rotting carcass. Hope remains: hope for repair, regeneration, balance and good sense.
It’s fascinating how good your jazz writing is and how juvenile your political writing is.
The world you describe is a comic book of good guys and bad guys.
Friend, good and evil run through each of us regardless where we are in the political spectrum.
I prefer the political right (with all it’s faults) because conservatives understand that civil servants and non profit workers and poor people are as prone to sin as the wealthiest businessmen. Progressives tend to see things through a victim/oppressor lens that is emotionally satisfying but detached from reality.

Good reminders, Bret. Keep hope alive.

Uplifting, inspirational, and as always, so delightfully written that it makes it a pleasure to read. Gracias!
