Lightsey was a great choice for pianist on this date. Rudy needed a player who could do all the McCoy stuff, but chose not to.

Thank you Bret for putting Rudolph Johnson in the spotlight!

I borrowed this LP in 1973 from my public library and took a tape copy ... and listened to that many many times. I did acquire two original Black Jazz LPs later on, the Coral Keys one by Walter Bishop Jr. you are going to write about soon, and Powerhouse by Chester Thompson -- which also features Rudolph Johnson! Heroic jazz from the early seventies!
