You can laugh off the idea of civil war all you want, call it conspiracy babble, dismiss it as fringe lunacy—but history doesn’t give a damn about your comfort zone. The United States is teetering on the edge, and the cracks are growing wider. You feel it, don’t you? The slow, creeping rot. The tribalism. The distrust. The scent of gasoline in the air, just waiting for the right spark.
Trump isn’t the cause—he’s the symptom. The disease runs deeper. Executive orders rolling out like battle plans, shredding the independence of federal agencies, stacking the deck in favor of the man behind the curtain. The Federal Election Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission—watchdogs turned into lapdogs, leashed by the Oval Office. Critics call it a power grab. Call it what it is: a sledgehammer to the Constitution.
And then there’s the purge. Federal employees getting axed en masse, careers gutted, institutions hollowed out. A judge nods along, shrugs, and the bloodletting continues. The machinery of government isn’t just being dismantled—it’s being burned to the ground, leaving behind a skeleton crew of loyalists and opportunists.
People are in the streets. Lawsuits flying like shrapnel. The seams are stretching, and while most Americans cling to the illusion that this is just another messy election cycle, history tells a different story. Because civil wars don’t start with cannon fire. They start with broken trust, with institutions eroded from within, with neighbors turning into enemies. They start when people stop believing in the system.
You think it can’t happen here? Let’s take a look at the ghosts of nations that thought the same damn thing.
THE FALL OF BANKS & NATIONS: A HISTORY LESSON IN COLLAPSE
Yugoslavia (1991–2001) – The Economy Goes Up in Flames
Once a stable, industrial powerhouse. Then came the war, and overnight, hyperinflation turned savings into Monopoly money. Prices doubled every 16 hours. The banks died screaming.
Venezuela (2013–Present) – A Nation With No Money
Largest oil reserves in the world, once the jewel of South America. Then the political chaos set in, and the bolívar turned to toilet paper. One million percent inflation. Banks shut down. People digging through dumpsters to eat.
Lebanon (2019–Present) – Banks Lock the Doors
Before the crisis, Beirut was a financial paradise. Then corruption and mismanagement torched the economy. ATMs stopped working. The Lebanese pound lost 90% of its value. People had to barter for medicine.
Syria (2011–Present) – Warzone Economics
A growing economy with stable banks—until the war hit. Then the Syrian pound cratered, foreign investors fled, and people resorted to black-market dollars and gold just to survive.
Argentina (2001) – “Corralito” and the Frozen Banks
Strong economy, solid banks—until government debt imploded. The result? Overnight, the banks locked people out of their own money. Riots in the streets. The government collapsed.
NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS IF THE SHIT HITS THE FAN IN THE U.S.
• Bank Runs – A panic-induced stampede to the banks, draining them dry in hours. ATMs go dark. Accounts freeze. Your money? Gone.
• Stock Market Apocalypse – Dow Jones, S&P 500, Nasdaq—all crashing in a spectacular fireball, vaporizing trillions in wealth.
• The Dollar Dies – The world loses faith in the U.S. dollar, and inflation explodes. Your savings won’t buy a pack of gum.
• Empty Shelves – Food, gas, medicine—all vanishing. Supply chains break down. Good luck getting insulin or a tank of gas.
• Wealth Seizures – The government—or whatever factions are in power—freezing accounts, confiscating assets. Who gets to decide what’s “fair” in a lawless America?
SO WHAT’S THE PLAY?
History is a ruthless teacher, and here’s what it tells us:
• Cash is king—until it isn’t. Diversify. Hold assets in multiple currencies.
• Gold, crypto, and foreign assets tend to survive when banks don’t.
• Self-sufficiency is survival. If the shit truly goes sideways, knowing how to grow food and barter will mean more than a 401(k).
• Have an exit strategy. Every collapse creates refugees. Where would you go?
HOPE FOR STABILITY, PREPARE FOR CHAOS
This isn’t paranoia. It’s reality. Civil wars aren’t fought with muskets anymore. They’re fought in boardrooms, bank vaults, and digital ledgers. They creep in through court rulings and executive orders, through backroom deals and eroded institutions. They simmer beneath the surface, ignored by the comfortable—until it’s too late.
So wake up. Pay attention. And for God’s sake, don’t assume history won’t come knocking at your door. Because if America goes down this road, the rest of the world goes with it. And there won’t be a safe place left to hide.

On a much more positive note, Friday we celebrate some of the greatest jazz concerts known to man, performed by the CTI All-Stars. Until we meet again, let your conscience be your guide.
With gold, whiskey, and tobacco you can barter just about anything. Or so said a friend. I’m rereading Dhalgren, btw. Always interesting, like rereading Moby Dick, or The Iliad.
Hi Brett , congrats . Need to discuss about an interview .
